There’s definitely something to be said about the blogging community here in Grand Rapids. It’s amazing that so many people want to get together to learn about each other and simply just make a human connection. Someone I’ve had the pleasure of making that connection with recently is the inspiring lady behind Brave Girl - Emily Bode.
Emily is a blogger, writer, and freelance graphic designer. She started her blog five years ago in an effort to create an outlet that was completely her own and separate from her day job. Since then, Brave Girl has grown into an eminent space for Emily to let her creative spirit flow. Her “independent design & lifestyle” blog is a place where she can share her thoughts and designs, and look back on her writing and moments in life for years to come. Emily’s words aim to bring her readers a purpose, which is something I truly love about her writing - see for yourself and head to one of my favorites “The Time We Give”.
Emily’s freelance work consists of hand lettering, event design, and print work. Her hand lettering is swoon worthy, as you can see on her 8x10 prints. These prints are adorable and minimal, making them perfect accent pieces to add to your bedroom, office, or living space. Whether preexisting or self-made, the quotes she hand letters for these prints are a true reflection of what Brave Girl embodies. You can purchase her prints here (+ list of stockists here if you are local).
Brave Girl actually originally caught my attention with her participation in the 10x10 challenge. This, along with her capsule wardrobe, is a section of her blog that has inspired me to take another look at the things in my closet (as well as in my life in general) that no longer serve a purpose to me. In case you’re curious, the 10x10 challenge is a period of 10 days in which you pick only 10 articles of clothing to wear. It was amazing what outfit combinations Emily was able to come up with, you never would have known she was repeating articles of clothing! Head here to read more on both of these topics.
Thanks for stopping by and reading this week, until next time!
